The Founder’s Story

My friend and I did a Work & Travel season, and we chose our jobs blind. There was no way to find out what the hours were really like, what the housing actually cost and looked like, or whether the place treated students decently. We found out after we had paid the agency and landed.

The part that stayed with me is that someone already knew. Students had worked at that place the summer before, and the summer before that. They knew what the hours were. They knew what the housing was like. There was simply nowhere for them to write it down, and nowhere for me to read it.

That is the whole problem. Around 300,000 students a year make this decision, and every year the people who could answer their questions fly home and forget about it. The knowledge exists. It has never been collected.

What SeasonStamp does about it

Students write about the job they actually had: pay, the hours they were promised against the hours they got, what housing cost, whether a second job was allowed, and whether they would go back. These are the questions that decide whether a season is worth it, and no general review site asks them.

A review site is only worth reading if you can trust who wrote it, so students prove they were really placed with that employer before their review carries a Verified badge. Proving it takes a minute and we keep almost nothing: the privacy page explains exactly what is stored and what is thrown away.

SeasonStamp is free, has no advertising, and does not take money from employers or agencies to change what you read. If that ever changes, it will be written here first.
